Dorney

On a bright morning with dew-soaked grass, I had a quick look on the common. A lesser whitethroat sped into a bramble bush, and several blackcaps and chiffchaffs were seen.

I could see only three yellow wagtails with the cattle - which didn't help by being widely scattered.

Taplow

Late afternoon I went for a quick walk from home and found a whinchat on a distant post in fields south of the village - my first in Taplow.

I returned with the 'scope and Coolpix 995, but although the bird sat still for long periods I couldn't get a better image than this one. I was able to watch it for some time however, and twice it flew back up to the post with a sizeable insect.

I went out the back to meet Greger when he arrived home - and we had good views of three hobbies cruising over the estate.
